Hourly Wage: $20 to $25 per hour with benefits, based on skills, experience and aptitude for taking on different responsibilities within the organization.

💥 Schedule: This is a full-time role that REQUIRES weekday availability; evening and weekend availability could be requested for event work. 35+ hours a week.

Location: 11769 40th Street SE, Calgary, Alberta.

Driver's License and Vehicle: Applicant must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Our warehouse is not easily accessible by transit, and our event locations or occasional deliveries may require you to drive company vehicles or your own.

A Holiday Tradition, With One Very Important Role.

We're looking for a full-time Warehouse Project Lead to join our sweet team and lead one of our biggest production projects of the year: Candy Advent Calendars.

This is a hands-on leadership role. And when we say hands-on, we mean it.

You'll work directly alongside our production team building and assembling Advent Calendars, while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture: how many need to be built, what's already in progress, what needs to ship first, whether the team is on pace and what needs to happen next to keep everything moving.

Advent production is highly process-driven and time-sensitive. We have daily production targets, multiple stages of assembly and orders shipping across Canada, which means the game plan can change. We're looking for someone who can confidently prioritize, pivot when needed, give clear direction and feedback, and keep the team moving without losing sight of accuracy, quality or allergen safety.

This is a full-time seasonal role during our Advent Calendar production season, with the opportunity to explore an ongoing warehouse position afterward, based on skills, fit, and business needs.

Responsibilities:

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll work in production alongside the team while taking ownership of the day-to-day flow, priorities and progress of our Advent Calendar project.

Advent Calendar Production & Project Leadership

• Lead the day-to-day flow of Advent Calendar production, working toward established individual and team production targets.
• Work hands-on alongside the production team to build and assemble Advent Calendars while maintaining oversight of the larger production plan.
• Delegate daily tasks and priorities, clearly communicate what needs to happen, and adjust responsibilities as production needs change.
• Keep track of how many calendars need to be built, what's already in progress, what stage they're at and what still needs to be completed.
• Monitor production pace throughout the day and identify early when the team is falling behind established targets.
• Provide clear, constructive and timely feedback to team members around pace, accuracy, quality and expectations.
• Identify production bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues and adjust the daily game plan to keep the project moving efficiently.
• Track production timing and progress to help ensure established goals and deadlines are being met.
• Proactively communicate progress, delays, concerns and changing priorities with the Warehouse Manager.

Order Prioritization & Shipping Flow
Our Advent Calendars ship across Canada, which means production isn't always as simple as processing orders in the order they arrive.

• Monitor current and incoming Advent Calendar orders and adjust production priorities as needed.
• Coordinate production flow with shipping timelines, prioritizing orders based on destination, required transit time and fulfillment deadlines.
• Understand when a new or existing order needs to move up the production queue and adjust the day's priorities accordingly.
• Balance changing shipping needs with established production targets and calendars already in progress.
• Maintain a clear picture of what's been ordered, what's been built, what's ready to ship and what needs attention next.
• Communicate priority changes clearly to the production team and Warehouse Manager so everyone understands the updated game plan.

Allergen Safety, Accuracy & Quality
Advent Calendar production includes multiple allergen-friendly options, making careful adherence to our established protocols extremely important.

• Maintain a strong working knowledge of The Sugar Cube's allergen procedures and production requirements. Full training on our specific protocols will be provided.
• Ensure established allergen safety procedures are consistently followed by the production team.
• Address incorrect procedures or potential allergen concerns immediately and communicate issues to the Warehouse Manager.
• Ensure products are being built according to the correct specifications, quantities and production instructions.
• Complete quality checks throughout production to maintain accuracy, consistency and presentation standards.
• Help maintain an organized, sanitized production environment that supports safe and efficient work.

Technology & Equipment
We're a small business, but we're also very digital.

Our Warehouse Project Lead should be comfortable using technology in their everyday work. Experience with programs such as Shopify, Dynamics, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is an asset, but you don't need to walk in knowing every system we use.

You'll also work with a variety of warehouse and production equipment, including printers, heat-sealing equipment and other tools used throughout Advent Calendar production.

Training is provided on our specific systems, equipment and processes. We're looking for someone who's already confident learning new technology, can follow processes independently, and isn't afraid to troubleshoot when something isn't working as it should.

• Has Leadership Experience: You've previously been responsible for leading, training, guiding, delegating or coordinating the work of others. You don't necessarily need to have had "Manager" in your job title, but this isn't an entry-level leadership role.
• Is a Hands-On Leader: You're comfortable working right alongside the team while also monitoring progress, giving direction and keeping everyone aware of priorities.
• Can Give Active Feedback: You're comfortable addressing pace, accuracy or performance concerns in the moment and communicating clear, realistic expectations.
• Takes Ownership: When you're responsible for a project, you keep track of what's happening, what still needs to happen and what could prevent you from hitting the goal.
• Is Extremely Organized: You can manage multiple stages, people, deadlines and changing priorities without losing track of the details.
• Understands Pace & Efficiency: You understand that hitting production targets matters, while also recognizing that speed can never come at the expense of accuracy, quality or safety.
• Can Prioritize & Pivot: You can take in new information, reassess the plan, and confidently adjust priorities when shipping deadlines, orders, or production needs shift.
• Is a Problem Solver: When something isn't going according to plan, you identify the bottleneck, determine what can be changed, and communicate what needs to happen next.
• Communicates Clearly: You can delegate tasks, give feedback, flag concerns and keep both the team and Warehouse Manager informed without needing constant follow-up.
• Is Detail-Oriented: You're comfortable working with quantities, production instructions, order details and allergen requirements where small mistakes matter.
• Is Comfortable With Technology: You're confident learning software, equipment and digital processes and aren't intimidated by troubleshooting.
• Is Physically Comfortable in a Warehouse Environment: You're comfortable being on your feet for extended periods, performing repetitive production tasks and lifting and moving inventory.
• Is Team-Oriented: You understand that leadership here doesn't mean standing back and supervising. Sometimes the best way to get the team across the finish line is to jump right in beside them.
