When Should You Buy an Advent Calendar?

Hint: We Start Thinking About Christmas in January.

Every year, without fail, someone messages us in the middle of summer and asks:

"Wait... you're already talking about Advent Calendars?"

We always laugh, because the truth is...We've been thinking about it since January.

While everyone else is settling into the new year, we're already planning what Christmas will look like. There's artwork to commission, candy to source, packaging to design, product photography to schedule, website updates to make, and about a hundred other moving pieces that all have to come together before a single calendar ever reaches your doorstep.

From the outside, Advent calendars might seem like a simple holiday tradition. Behind the scenes, they're months in the making for our small team.

So if you've ever wondered when you should actually buy an Advent calendar, here's why the answer is probably earlier than you think.

Christmas Starts Long Before December

One of our favourite parts of creating our Advent calendars is watching everything slowly come together throughout the year.

First comes the planning. Then comes the artwork, as each year's featured artist begins creating an entirely new design.

Next comes candy selection, packaging decisions, photography, website updates, marketing plans, shipping logistics, and countless little details that most people never see.

By the time our calendars launch, they've already had months of care poured into them.

It's one of the reasons we love Advent so much. It isn't just about the 25 days you experience in December. It's about everything that happens before those first little doors are opened.

Our VIP Weekend Is a True Presale

Here's something many people don't realize. When our VIP weekend arrives, we're not opening the doors to a warehouse full of finished calendars. In fact, we haven't assembled them yet. Our VIP launch is a true presale.

Those early orders help us finalize production before we begin carefully assembling calendars later in the season. That means the candy inside is as fresh as possible while still giving us enough time to build, quality-check, pack, and ship orders across Canada before December 1.

It's a little extra planning on our end, but we think it's worth it. Fresh candy tastes better.

Why Buying Early Has Its Perks

Our VIP Presale Weekend is the best time to shop if you're planning ahead, period.

VIP subscribers receive:

  • First access to this year's collection.
  • Our best pricing of the season.
  • The only full-site Advent discount we offer.

It's our way of saying thank you to the people who have been counting down right alongside us.

If you happen to miss VIP weekend, don't worry. We continue to offer automatic multi-calendar savings throughout the season. The more calendars you purchase, the more you save, with discounts automatically applied in your cart. It's perfect for families, gifting, or anyone who can't stop at just one.

Freshness Comes First

One of the biggest advantages of our production schedule is that we don't rush to finish calendars months before they're needed.

Instead, we carefully build them closer to Advent season, giving every calendar the freshest possible start to December. Is it intense? Yes! But is it worth it? YES!

Once assembly begins, shipments head out across Canada with the furthest destinations leaving first. We work our way back toward home, ensuring calendars arrive before December 1 as long as orders are placed by our published ordering deadlines.

It's a process we've refined over the years, and one we look forward to every single season.

So... When Should You Buy an Advent Calendar?

Our answer? Before you start thinking about Christmas.

Buying early means you'll have the best opportunity to take advantage of VIP pricing, secure your calendars without the holiday rush, and cross one big item off your holiday to-do list before autumn has even arrived. Plus, if we sell out, you know you have one coming your way.

Then, when December rolls around, all that's left to do is enjoy the countdown.

Here's Something Most People Don't Know...

An Advent calendar might only last 25 days. But ours takes nearly an entire year to create.

From the first planning meeting in January to the final shipment leaving our warehouse, every calendar represents months of creativity, organization, and excitement from our team. We wouldn't have it any other way.
