It Might Cost Less Than You Think
When people first look at a professionally styled candy buffet, it's easy to assume that doing it yourself would be the less expensive option. And depending on your needs, it might be. But it's also really easy to compare the cost of a professional buffet to the cost of just buying candy, when those aren't actually the same thing.
A full candy buffet includes the candy, of course, as well as the display pieces, backdrop, linens, decor, serving pieces, and bags. It's getting everything to the venue, setting it up, styling it so it looks full and intentional, and making sure it's ready before your guests arrive. Depending on the event, it can also mean coming back later that night to take it all down.
Those are all things you'd otherwise need to source, rent, buy, transport or do yourself. Once you start adding them together, a professionally styled buffet can make a lot more sense than people expect.
And then there's the part we're particularly picky about: the candy.
For our buffets, candy is chosen specifically for the event, kept sealed and opened fresh for setup. We consider the event, the number of guests, colours, flavours, dietary needs and how the entire selection works together. It's not candy that's been sitting in an open container, with unknown handling, waiting to be scooped again.
That's also why our base pricing is all-encompassing. Setup, backdrop display, table linen and decor, candy, vases, scoops or tongs, and candy bags are already included. Pricing then varies based on guest count, the amount of candy allocated per guest, premium or allergen-friendly options, customizations and whether late-night takedown is needed.
The biggest thing you're paying for, though, might be the part that's hardest to put on an invoice: you don't have to do any of it.
We're at the venue setting up while you're getting ready for your wedding, welcoming guests, running your conference, wrangling your holiday party or doing literally anything other than trying to figure out why the backdrop isn't standing up properly.
But What If You Actually Want to Do It Yourself?
We get that too. Some people already have the decor, love styling events, or are hosting at a venue where a full-service buffet isn't practical.
That's why we offer a Candy Buffet-in-a-Box option. You can take care of the display and setup, and we'll make sure the candy side still gets the Sugar Cube treatment, with the same fresh, event-specific candy we'd be comfortable putting on one of our own buffets.
We're happy to hand over the reins. We're just not gatekeeping the good candy.
So, Is It Worth It?
If you're only comparing a professional candy buffet to the price of buying consumer-accessible candy, they can look like two very different things. Once you're comparing the whole buffet, including everything you would need to source, transport, set up and take care of yourself, the difference can look a whole lot smaller. Not to mention (but we will) that we bring in candy that you can't get yourself, and that's a whole other thing to consider.
And for a lot of events, having one entire piece of the day arrive finished and ready for guests is worth something too.
If you're curious what that looks like for your event, our Candy Buffet packages break down the different options, what's included and where pricing starts.
