Because Christmas Traditions Deserve a Local Touch.
If you asked someone what makes an Advent calendar Canadian, they'd probably say it's made in Canada, ships from Canada, or comes from a Canadian business. Those things are all true, and they're important.
But after creating candy Advent calendars for years, we've realized there's a little more to it than that. To us, a Canadian Advent calendar isn't just about where it's made. It's about understanding the people opening it.
It's about planning for cross-country shipping, knowing what the holiday season looks like here, and creating something that becomes part of family traditions from coast to coast. That's the part we love most.
Canada Is a Pretty Big Place
This might sound obvious, but Canada is... well... huge.
Shipping a package to Vancouver looks very different than shipping one to Halifax, Whitehorse, or St. John's. Every destination has its own timeline, and when you're creating something that's meant to begin on December 1, timing matters.
That's why we don't simply pack calendars and hope for the best. Every Advent season, we carefully plan our shipping schedule so the furthest destinations leave our warehouse first. From there, we work our way back across the country until we're delivering locally here in Calgary.
The goal is simple: no matter where you live, your countdown is ready to begin on time.
Freshness Is Worth Planning For
One question we're asked every year is whether our calendars are already sitting on shelves by the time our VIP Presale begins. The answer is no. Our VIP weekend is a true presale.
Those early orders help us visualize production before we begin assembling calendars later in the season. That means the candy inside is as fresh as possible while still giving us enough time to carefully build, quality-check, pack, and ship every order before December arrives.
It's a little more work behind the scenes, but we wouldn't do it any other way. Fresh candy tastes better.
More Than a Product
When you shop with a Canadian small business, you're supporting more than a finished product. You're supporting an artist creating this year's calendar design. You're supporting our team, who carefully choose and pack every piece of candy, assemble and close every cube, wrap every sticker, and finally group all 25 and heat-seal them.
You're supporting the people who spend months planning the launch, photographing every calendar, building the website, filming daily unboxing videos, sharing each day's surprise throughout December, answering questions, and cheering right alongside you as the countdown unfolds.
There's a real team behind every calendar, and we think that's something pretty special.
One of Our Favourite Advent Traditions
Every Advent season, we have a little tradition of our own. Our goal is simple:
Ship a calendar to every province and territory in Canada.
Throughout the season, you'll usually find one of us checking destination addresses a little more often than necessary, waiting to see if another province or territory can be crossed off our list. When an order comes in from somewhere new, there's usually a little happy dance that quickly follows.
It might sound a little silly, but to us, it's a reminder that something dreamed up in Calgary is becoming part of countless holiday mornings across Canada.
There's something pretty special about watching calendars head to big cities, small towns, and places we've never even visited. Every shipping label tells a tiny story, and we feel incredibly lucky to be part of so many of them.
A Canadian Advent Calendar Should Feel Like Home
One of our favourite things about Advent is knowing that no two families celebrate exactly the same way. Some calendars are opened before school. Some wait until dessert. Some families take turns opening each cube, while some must watch our unboxing video at the same time as they open theirs.
Those traditions look a little different in every home, and that's exactly what makes them special. If we're lucky enough to be part of even a small piece of those memories, we consider that an honour.
